Josef Pürmayr

Get to know the members of our team!

Being a physics (and PE) teacher at Julian and Moritz’ old school, Josef has been a part of the team since the very beginning. Besides working on the Tumbleweed’s energy supply, the solar cells, Josef acts as the responsible adult keeping the boys grounded when they dream up their wild ideas.

Which famous person, dead or alive, would you most like to spend a day with?

Yuri Gagarin. For me he is the most badass person to ever walk on the surface of our planet. He was the first human being to strap himself into a spacecraft and rocket himself around the earth. As incredible as this may be already, he re-entered earth’s atmosphere and landed unharmed, near the cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

What is your favorite place you have traveled to?

The Canadian Rocky Mountains. Some friends and I hiked to a very remote lake deep in the mountains, where no paths where leading to. After a two day hike, we arrived at the lake. There was no cell phone reception, no roads, no cars, no people. Time stood still there and suddenly everyday problems seemed quite unimportant.

Do you collect anything?

I do “collect” kilometers. 😉 I keep track of the distance I cover running during a year. This year, it’s going to be 2018 km. One kilometer for each year on the calendar. It breaks down to about 5.5 km a day or 38.7 km per week.
